The Work

Patios and Walks That Fit Your Yard

A patio or walk fails when it is treated as a slab dropped on the yard. Water ponds against the house, the edge unravels, and the beds look unfinished next to it. Bradley Lawn-Scape plans paver work with the landscape so the two meet on purpose.

Residential jobs are usually a patio off the back of the house or a walk from the drive to the door. Pattern, border, and the stone or mulch beside the walk are part of the same conversation.

Why It Matters

Why Pavers Instead of a Poured Slab

Pavers can be lifted and reset if a section settles. A cracked slab cannot. That matters on Ohio Valley clay that moves through winter.

They also let us carry a color and pattern up to the house without pouring a pad that fights the beds. The walk becomes part of the landscape instead of a gray interruption.

What's Included

What Paver Work Includes

The estimate covers excavation, base, pavers, border, and jointing. Adjacent beds can be refreshed at the same time when you want the whole entry finished.

  • Layout for drainage away from the foundation
  • Excavation and compacted base
  • Paver field and soldier or contrasting border
  • Joint sand and edge restraint
  • Bed work along the walk or patio when it is on your estimate

How It Works

How It Works

  1. 1

    Set the Drain Line

Pitch is decided first so water does not sit at the door or against the siding.

  2. 2

    Build the Base

Depth and compaction matter more than the paver color. That is what keeps the surface flat.

  3. 3

    Lay Pattern and Border

The field and border go in together so the edge does not wander.

  4. 4

    Joint and Finish Beds

Joints are locked. Stone or mulch along the walk is finished so the job looks complete.

Timing

Paver Season

Base work needs dry ground. Spring through fall is the working window. We do not set a patio on frozen or saturated soil.

If the patio is tied to a wall or a new install, the wall and grade go first.
