The Work
When Sod Beats Hydroseed
Hydroseeding is usually the better fit for new lawns and large bare ground. Sod makes sense when the area has to look finished the same week — a storefront strip, a walk repair, or a small high-traffic lawn that cannot sit behind caution tape for a month.
Homeowners ask for sod when a dog run, a narrow side yard, or a new walk has left a strip that seed will not hold. We'll still recommend hydroseeding when the area is large enough that sod cost does not make sense.

Why It Matters
Why Sod Still Has a Place
Seed needs time and water. A public entrance does not always have either. Sod gives usable cover as soon as it is laid and watered in.
It also locks soil on a small slope next to pavement where the first rain would wash seed into the gutter.
What's Included
What Sod Installation Includes
The estimate covers grade, sod, and the first watering. Lawn treatments after the sod knits are a separate program.
- Grade and soil prep so the sod sits even with walks and drives
- Fresh sod cut for the job
- Tight seams and clean cuts against pavement
- Water-in on the day of install
- Guidance on watering until the sod knits
How It Works
How It Works
- 1
Decide Sod or Hydroseed
Large new lawns usually go hydroseed. Small, visible, or high-traffic strips usually go sod.
- 2
Prep the Grade
The surface is raked and firmed so the sod does not bridge over dips.
- 3
Lay and Cut
Pallets come off the truck, seams are staggered, and edges are cut to the walk.
- 4
Water and Hand Off
The first watering happens before we leave. You get a simple watering schedule until roots take.
Timing
When Sod Should Go Down
Spring and fall are the safest windows. Sod in July only works with reliable irrigation. We will decline a midsummer install on a site with no water.
Commercial strips can be scheduled around other site work so the sod is not driven on the next morning.

Questions
Common Questions About Sod Installation
Do You Still Hydroseed?
Yes. Hydroseeding is usually the better fit for large new lawns and repairs. Sod is for strips and sites that need instant cover. See Hydroseeding & Lawn Installation for the seed method.
How Soon Can We Walk on It?
Light foot traffic after it is watered in. Stay off with mowers until it knits — usually a couple of weeks with consistent moisture.
Can Sod Go on the Lawn Program?
Yes, once it's rooted. New sod shouldn't get a full weed-control treatment right away.
